Sharjah: The Holy Quran Academy in Sharjah launched a two-day symposium yesterday, gathering ten researchers from various Arab countries. The event focused on key topics related to the Quran, including the impact of pauses and beginnings on its interpretation.
Dr. Khalifa Musabah Al Tunaiji, Chairman of the Academy, opened the symposium with a speech, commending the researchers for their valuable contributions and stressing the importance of understanding the Quran’s varying meanings.
He also highlighted the Academy's achievements, including an encyclopedia that aids in interpreting the Quran's rhetorical styles, and shared his vision for a new resource focused on pausing and starting with the Quran to assist students, teachers, and reciters, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
The symposium, titled "Waqf and Ibtidaa in the Holy Quran," was attended by Dr. Al Tunaiji, department heads, and scholars from both the UAE and abroad. It aims to further research into Waqf and Ibtidaa rules and their role in recitation fluency and understanding rhetorical meanings.
