BASKETBALL – The official Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) games that will be held in Bahrain later this year are scheduled for December 15 to 17, it was revealed yesterday.
In a Press conference held in Manila, Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA) president Alaa Mudara signed the contract with PBA commissioner Willie Marcial to host the contests in the kingdom.
The event will feature three popular PBA teams who will be playing two games. The identity of the PBA franchises were not disclosed during the meeting with Filipino media.
“It will be held during the National Day of Bahrain,” Mudara was quoted as saying by Philippine sports website spin.ph. “It will be a great time to have these games on a holiday, so fans will have a great time watching the games.”
Marcial added: “We’re so grateful that we have been invited by Bahrain.”
Mudara was accompanied during yesterday’s conference by Muharraq Club basketball star Bader Abdulla Malabes. The half-Bahraini, half-Filipino sharp-shooter and former national team standout played in the Philippines as a student-athlete with the De La Salle University Green Archers in the University Athletics Association of the Philippines.
More details of the PBA games in the kingdom are expected to be announced soon by the BBA.
