SWIMMING – Bahrain’s Ahmed Suhail wrapped up the kingdom’s participation yesterday in the World Aquatics Championships 2025 in Singapore.
Suhail hit the pool at the World Aquatics Championships Arena, located at Singapore Sports Hub in the zone of Kallang, in the men’s 400 metres medley, in which he holds the national record of four minutes 54.79 seconds.
The 17-year-old narrowly came up short of that mark after completing the first of four preliminary round heats in a time of 4:56.83 for seventh place. Munzer Mark Kabbara of Lebanon was the race’s winner in 4:23.51.
It was Hubail’s second race in this year’s worlds, having also contested the men’s 1,500m freestyle.
Hubail was one of four of the kingdom’s top young swimmers who competed in Singapore. The others were Paris 2024 Olympians Amani Alobaidli and Saud Ghali, and Asma Le Falher.
