FOOTBALL – BAHRAIN’S under-20 football national team powered to a resounding 4-0 victory against their counterparts from Turkish club Golcukspor 1984 in a friendly match last night.
The tune-up was part of the Bahrainis’ ongoing training camp in Türkiye, where they are gearing up for the Gulf Cup U-20 2025, which is scheduled to kick off later this month.
Four players were on target for the nationals. They included Abdulrahman Bassam, Yahya Adel, Mubarak Fawaz, and Abdulla Osama.
Yesterday’s match was the first of a series of friendlies the Bahrainis are expected to play during their camp, which is being supervised by head coach Ali Aamer. They are scheduled to continue this gathering until the third week of August, just ahead of the regional competition, which will be held in Abha, Saudi Arabia.
Aamer has 28 players on his squad in Türkiye. The others are Mohammed Bahzad, Hadi Ghazi, Al Tayeb Al Basri, Ali Hussain, Ebrahim Ali, Faisal Rashid, Khaled Mohammed, Mohammed Salah, Ali Mahran, Amjad Jaafar, Adam Fareed, Khaled Al Khalidi, Ebrahim Ayash, Ebrahim Al Marisi, Mohammed Adel, Qassim Jameel, Abbas Mohammed, Hussain Al Haiki, Khaled Ahmed, Ahmed Nasser, and goalkeepers Abdulla Ahmed, Hassan Ali, Abdulla Al Shawi, and Isa Al Thawadi.
The Gulf Cup U-20 2025 is being organised by the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation (AGCFF). Bahrain are set to compete in Group B for the tournament’s preliminary round alongside Oman, Iraq, and Egypt, while Group A features Qatar, Kuwait, Yemen, and hosts Saudi.
