Dina Alaa, an Egyptian Judo champion, was found dead with three gunshot wounds in her Alexandria apartment on Sunday.
According to reports, 28-year-old Dina was protecting her children during a domestic dispute when she was fatally shot by her husband.
Neighbours and witnesses reported frequent arguments between the couple. The husband was later found nearby with a gunshot wound.
He is currently under heavy guard at a hospital pending interrogation.
