FOOTBALL – AL Ahli lock horns with Al Khaldiya tonight for the 2024-25 edition of the Bahrain Super Cup.
The match is scheduled for a 7pm kick-off at Khalifa Sports City Stadium in Isa Town.
Ahli are playing in the contest as winners of the 2023-24 His Majesty the King’s Cup, while Khaldiya were the victors of the Nasser Bin Hamad Bahrain Premier Football League that same season.
Speaking ahead of the game, Ahli head coach Mohammed Al Nusuf said that they aspire to put in a strong performance and that they are fully prepared for the contest.
Al Musuf noted that both teams have an equal chance to claim the coveted trophy.
Meanwhile, Khaldiya head coach Ali Ashour said that his team has been working hard in the pre-season and have achieved high technical and fitness levels.
Ashour acknowledged that their opponents are a major club with a wide fan base and a good coach. He noted that the humidity will be a factor in tonight’s encounter but that they will manage this with their strong bench, who have the required experience.
This evening’s fixture is one of two Bahrain Super Cups set to take place as part of the new campaign. The other, which will mark its 2025-26 edition, is scheduled for December 12.
Khaldiya will once again feature as last season’s winners of the His Majesty the King’s Cup. They will take on reigning Nasser Bin Hamad Bahrain Premier Football League champions Muharraq.
The Bahrain Super Cup is the traditional contest played ahead of the start of a new national football calendar.
