Kuwait is set to mandate licences for social media influencers for promoting products online.
As a part of Kuwait's Information Ministry's new rules to regulate social media advertising, influencers and companies will be required to obtain a license to prove that any advertised product or service is legally licensed with the Commerce and Industry Ministry.
The new regulations follow several high-profile cases in which consumers were duped by unverified influencers in fields such as medicine and real estate.
