The Culture Square Project supports the Jeddah Historic District Program, part of the Ministry of Culture's initiative to achieve Saudi Vision 2030. This cultural landmark revitalises Historic Jeddah, inspired by local cultural heritage while employing modern architectural techniques to preserve its traditional character.
Located on the banks of Al-Arbaeen Lake, Culture Square features several prominent buildings. These include Bait Amir Al-Bahr, the Performing Arts Centre, which hosts the Red Sea International Film Festival, and the Digital Art Museum, home to the teamLab Borderless exhibition, showcasing innovative digital artworks.
The architecture reflects Historic Jeddah's interconnected urban fabric, promoting social cohesion. Key design elements include rawashin (ornate bay windows) and wooden doors, along with decorative arches for ventilation.
The Performing Arts Centre spans 16,000 square metres, featuring an 868-seat theatre, five cinema halls, nine conference halls, a restaurant, and three cafés. The Digital Art Museum spans 10,000 square meters and features nearly 80 interconnected works that merge art, technology, and nature.
