FOOTBALL – Bahrain head coach Dragan Talajic has made two additional call-ups for the senior men’s football national team’s latest gathering starting today as part of Fifa’s international break.
The Croatian tactician has included Riffa star Ali Madan and Muharraq standout Mohammed Al Hardan on the roster.
This period includes two big friendly games in the coming week against a pair of African giants.
They first take on Morocco on Thursday and then go up against Egypt on Sunday. Both tune-ups will be held in Rabat.
The nationals were scheduled to depart for the Moroccan capital early today morning.
Following their friendlies, they are set to fly back to Bahrain on Monday next week.
Talajic will have a 27-player squad for the gathering and their two matches. The addition of Madan and Al Hardan follows another late selection of East Riffa player Ahmed Dheyaa to the national team list.
The rest of the players are Mohammed Jassim Marhoon, Komail Al Aswad, Mahdi Abduljabbar, Sayed Dhiya Saeed, Mohammed Al Rumaihi, Mahdi Humaidan, Waleed Al Hayyam, Amine Benaddi, Abdulla Al Khalasi, Hamad Shamsan, Ahmed Bughammar, Sayed Mahmood Al Mosawi, Hazza Ali, Hussain Jameel, Vincent Emmanuel, Sayed Mahdi Sharaf, Jassim Al Shaikh, Omar Saber, Hussain Abdulkarim, Abdulla Al Subaie, and Ebrahim Al Khattal, along with goalkeepers Ebrahim Luthfallah, Yousef Habib, and Mohammed Elgharably.
Bahrain are gearing up for their upcoming competitions, headlined by the Fifa Arab Cup 2025 this November and December in Doha, Qatar.
Both Morocco and Egypt are also set to take part in the major regional competition.
Prior to the tournament, Bahrain will play a qualifying game against Djibouti on November 26 in Doha which is scheduled for a 4pm kick-off, Bahrain time.
The winners will secure their spot in the group stage, which starts on December 1.
Should the Bahrainis book their seat, they will be in Group D where they will join Algeria, Iraq, and either Lebanon or Sudan, who also play in a qualifier on November 26.
Group A features competition hosts Qatar, Tunisia, Syria or South Sudan, and Palestine or Libya; Group B is composed of Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Oman or Somalia, and Yemen or Comoros; and Group C includes the UAE, Egypt, Jordan, and either Kuwait or Mauritania.
