A Kuwaiti man was arrested for possession of drugs and dangerous weapons after police noticed his suspicious behaviour on the road, leading to a high-speed car chase.
According to a security source, police noticed a vehicle moving at an unusually slow speed during a routine patrol at 4 am on Monday. Patrol officers activated their lights and signalled for the driver to pull over, suspecting that the driver might be in distress.
Spooked by the patrol's warning lights, the driver of the black four-wheel-drive vehicle suddenly accelerated to approximately 150 km/h. Backup units were immediately dispatched, and officers managed to stop the vehicle after a brief pursuit.
Upon inspection, officers discovered that the driver was in an abnormal condition. A search of the vehicle uncovered a switchblade, a sharp knife, a metal box ring, and several types of narcotic substances—including a bag of crystal meth, three small bags of heroin, and approximately 25 Captagon pills. They also found a quantity of cash, rolling papers, and a bottle containing hashish-flavoured electronic shisha liquid.
The suspect was taken into custody, and all confiscated items were referred to the relevant authorities for further investigation.
Kuwait’s General Department of Narcotics Control has referred a man in his thirties to the Public Prosecution for possession of dangerous, sharp weapons and various narcotic substances.
Following his interrogation, prosecutors ordered that he be remanded to the Central Prison for 21 days pending trial. Authorities are also investigating his possible connection to a series of robberies committed by unidentified suspects.
