CUE SPORTS – Bahrain's billiards and snooker national teams will be taking part in the Arab Championships 2025, to be played in New Alamein, Egypt.
The competition is being organised and run by the Arab Federation of Billiard Sports, and it is scheduled to begin tomorrow and continue until October 22.
Cueists from 16 nations are taking part, including Bahrain, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Kuwait, Oman, the UAE, Qatar, Palestine, Tunisia, Syria, Iraq, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, and hosts Egypt.
Bahrain’s billiards squad are to be led by superstar brothers Hussain and Haider Maroom, along with Ebrahim Al Qaed and Faisal Almaliki amongst the men; while the trio of Nahla Al Sunni, Aisha Buhazza, and Jood Al Majed are competing amongst the women.
Meanwhile, in snooker, Bahrain have five of its top players in the fray.
They include Habib Sabah, Hisham Al Saqr, Khalil Busaif, Abdulla Alaali, and Abdulla Mohammed.
Bahrain will be looking to repeat their success from last year’s championships, held in Riyadh, Saudi.
The kingdom’s billiards and snooker national teams came away with an outstanding haul of 13 medals – highlighted by five gold. They also bagged one silver and seven bronze medals in the event.
The Maroom brothers spearheaded their bid. They came away with two of Bahrain’s gold medals – one apiece in individual play – and then another teamed up with Al Qaed.
The other gold medals were claimed Al Sunni and Sabah.
