FOOTBALL – Hidd posted a come-from-behind 3-1 victory over Al Najma last night in their week five contest of the 2025-26 Nasser bin Hamad Bahrain Premier Football League.
Achraf Douiri from the Netherlands put Najma ahead in the 36th minute of the match, played at the Late Shaikh Ali Bin Mohammed Bin Isa Al Khalifa Stadium in Arad.
But Hidd replied with their three goals, all in the last 20 minutes of the second half.
Algerian professional Oussama Bellatreche equalised in the 72nd minute with a header from close range, and then Mauritanian import Bekaye Wade scored four minutes later to put Hidd in front.
Hidd then completed their comeback after Jordanian Mohammad Ahmed Aleikish tapped in from the face of goal off a short pass by Abdulla Al Subaie.
With the result, Hidd claimed their second win in five outings and improved to nine points to remain in the top four on the table.
They handed Najma their third defeat as they remained second to last with two points.
In yesterday’s other game played at Khalifa Sports City Stadium in Isa Town, 10-man Sitra and Budaiya played to a 1-1 stalemate.
French professional Kari Maxanc Aristophane opened Sitra’s account in the 24th minute, but they were then a man down in the opening minute of first-half stoppage time.
Yemeni midfielder Abdulwasea Almatari was given his marching orders after receiving his second booking for a boot to the stomach of Budaiya’s French import Kablan Davy Ngoma.
Budaiya later drew level with a late Ngoma penalty in the 83rd minute. They were awarded their spot kick after Sitra’s Imran Ilyas Bakur Adam handled the ball in the area.
Following a share of the points, Sitra improved to six in mid-table while Budaiya went to five right below them.
League action continues tonight with A’ali facing Malkiya at Khalifa Sports City Stadium and Al Ahli taking on Al Shabab at the Late Shaikh Ali Bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Stadium.
Both games are scheduled for 7pm kick-offs.
