A Kuwaiti man who assaulted a security officer with a Japanese-style katana sword has lost his appeal and been sentenced to 12 years in prison with hard labour.
The man’s sentence was upheld after Kuwait’s Appeals Court heard that he slashed at the security officer, severing four tendons in his hand using a katana sword.
He was also convicted of detaining his Ukrainian wife inside his home in Shamiya, where authorities found illicit drugs, weapons, and ammunition during a raid.
The court confirmed his ruling, stating that his acts gravely endangered public safety, which necessitated a harsh sentence.
