FOOTBALL – Sayed Hashem Isa fired in from close range to help lift Malkiya to a 1-0 victory over A’ali last night to wrap up week five in the 2025-26 Nasser Bin Hamad Bahrain Premier Football League.
Isa delivered the match winner in the 67th minute following a free-kick by teammate Hasan Ali Helal that went uncleared.
The ball fell right onto Isa’s path in the penalty area, and he made no mistake with his shot against A’ali goalkeeper Omar Salem Zayed.
With the result, Malkiya rose to 11 points on the league table to tie with defending champions Muharraq, who remained in first place with a superior goal difference.
A’ali were handed their second loss and remained on five points.
Also last night, Al Ahli defeated 10-man Al Shabab 2-0 thanks to two penalties in the game’s closing stages.
Abdulla Al Hashash converted both – first in the 79th minute after he was taken down in the box by Shabab goalkeeper Mahmood Alajmi.
He then completed his brace with a spot kick in the 103rd minute after Shabab’s Hussain Alqassab was called for a hand ball in the area.
Ahli improved to seven points with their second win while Shabab suffered their second defeat to stay on five markers.
