Manama: Brigadier General Dr. Shaikh Fahad bin Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Commander of the Royal Medical Services (RMS), and Chairman of the Central Committee for Transplantation of Human Organs, said that the national organ donation campaign embodies the Kingdom of Bahrain’s commitment to compassion and solidarity, offering renewed hope to patients in need.
Gen. Dr. Shaikh Fahad bin Khalifa highlighted that since the launch of the transplant programme in November 2023, King Hamad University Hospital has successfully completed 54 kidney and 19 liver transplants, a milestone reflecting the expertise of Bahraini medical teams and the leadership’s continued support.
He noted that the RMS is working to expand the programme through advanced training, new surgical technologies, and partnerships with leading international centres, alongside awareness efforts encouraging community participation in organ donation.
Gen. Dr. Shaikh Fahad bin Khalifa underscored that the initiative represents a lasting humanitarian mission, aimed at saving lives and strengthening Bahrain’s position as a regional leader in organ transplantation.
