MOTORSPORT – BAHRAIN-based karting team NorthStar Racing kick off the 2025-26 Bahrain Rotax MAX Challenge (BRMC) today at Bahrain International Karting Circuit (BIKC) in Sakhir.
NorthStar are to be spearheaded in the BRMC’s highly anticipated new season by their two returning champions from 2024-25, including Tariq Soofi and Tye Mejia.
Tariq was the BRMC’s Micro MAX title winner last campaign and he has moved up to compete in the Mini MAX category. Mejia, meanwhile, will be defending his crown in the highly competitive Senior MAX class.
Also set to compete with NorthStar in today’s season-opening event are Sami Al Bandak in the Micro MAX; Faisal Alnajjar and Leo Saruhan alongside Tariq in the Mini MAX; Luca Saruhan, Bader Faisal and Abdulrahman Mohammed in the Junior MAX; Farhan bin Shafeel with Mejia in the Senior MAX; and Raoul Sadi in the DD2 MAX.
Action today is scheduled to begin at 10.40am with free practices, to be followed by qualifying practice from 11.17am. The pre-finals will then be held from 12.52pm, setting the stage for the finals flagging off from 2.34pm.
The podium ceremonies are then scheduled to take place around 5pm following all the action.
The BRMC features a total of eight rounds in its 2025-26 calendar. Following this weekend’s curtain-raiser, rounds two and three are scheduled for back-to-back days on December 12 and 13. Round four will then kick off the new calendar year on January 10, followed by round five on January 30. Round six is set for February 13, and then the seventh and penultimate round will be held on March 28. That will pave the way for the championship final, scheduled for April 18 at BIKC.
