A man in Egypt’s Menoufia Governorate has been arrested for allegedly murdering his wife and infant son, then posting an image of their bodies on social media.
Residents of Zanara village were shocked after seeing the disturbing image on Facebook and alerted authorities to the crime.
Police quickly moved to the suspect’s home, where he was arrested and taken into custody for questioning.
According to the Arabic newspaper Al Ahram, the bodies of the victims have been placed under the custody of the Public Prosecution, which will authorise their burial once investigations are complete.
Egyptian security services have since removed the photo from social media platforms.
Authorities have not yet determined the suspect’s motive for killing his wife and child, or why he chose to document and share the crime online.
