BASKETBALL – THE stage is set for the Gulf Basketball Association (GBA) U21 3x3 championships, scheduled to be held this Wednesday and Thursday at Bahrain Financial Harbour in Manama.
The event is taking place right before the kingdom hosts the highly anticipated Manama Final on the 2025 Fiba 3x3 World Tour, featuring 14 of the best street basketball squads from around the world.
The GBA meeting will feature competition for both junior men and women.
Bahrain will be represented by two squads amongst the men, including Bahrain A and Bahrain B, the Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA) has announced.
Both teams are in action on opening day on Wednesday, with the A squad facing Oman in their first game and then B taking on Kuwait in their opener. Later in the day, Bahrain’s A team will face Qatar and Bahrain B will go up against Oman, while the round concludes with an exciting battle between the kingdom’s two sides.
The women’s tournament features Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and Oman, who will play in a single group. The kingdom’s ladies first take on Kuwait on Wednesday and then clash with Qatar, before concluding the first day with a game against Oman.
The knockouts will be held Thursday for both the men and women.
BBA board member and tournament director Hassan Yaseen confirmed the complete readiness for the start of play. He pointed out that all technical, administrative, and logistical preparations have been completed, in keeping with the prestigious position that the kingdom occupies in hosting and organising regional and international sporting events.
Yaseen explained that the event’s organising committee, in cooperation with the BBA, has approved the official schedule for the tournament’s games.
Yaseen pointed out that the fans attending the tournament will enjoy a special zone, which will offer diverse entertainment experiences that combine Bahraini heritage with modern attractions, as well as varied food and beverage options.
