BASKETBALL – BAHRAIN’S women’s and men’s 3x3 basketball teams both barged into the semi-finals of their respective competitions last night in the Gulf Basketball Association (GBA) 3x3 Championships 2025, currently taking place in Muscat, Oman.
The kingdom’s women’s squad composed of Bayan Salman, Aya Kamali, Hessa Al Jaber, and Meryan Sameer won both their games in the preliminary round to march through as favourites.
The men’s team, meanwhile, composed of Mohammed Kowayed, Milos Supica, Bogdan Dragovic, and Hassan Fahad, split their two fixtures but did enough to qualify for the last four.
Bahrain’s women took both their contests yesterday in dominant fashion. They opened their campaign with a resounding 21-4 rout of Oman B, and then secured their place atop Pool B with a 21-9 win over Qatar.
The Bahrainis next face off with Kuwait in their final four contest, scheduled for a 4.20pm start. The Kuwaitis won one of their two games last night. The other semis fixture is between Saudi Arabia and Qatar.
On the distaff, Bahrain’s men edged past Oman B 18-17 in their first assignment. They then lost 13-17 to their undefeated Qatari counterparts to finish second in Pool B. They will be taking on Kuwait in their semi-final clash, scheduled for 4.40pm. The Kuwaitis also split their two games in a tight Pool A. Qatar face Saudi in the other game of the last four.
