POWERLIFTING – Major Abdullah Abdulwahab Salmeen, an athlete of the Ministry of Interior powerlifting team, won first place in the under-140kg Asian category at the World Powerlifting Championship for Professionals held in Thailand.
Major Salmeen also broke the Asian record in the 240kg bench press and was crowned overall champion.
On this occasion, Public Security Sports Association president Brigadier Khalid Abdulaziz Al Khayyat expressed appreciation for the continuous support of Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, noting that it is a key reason behind the ministry’s sporting achievements.
He also highlighted the close follow-up of Public Security chief Lieutenant-General Tariq Hassan Al Hassan of the ministry’s teams during competitions.
Brigadier Al Khayyat commended Major Salmeen’s achievement, stating that it reflects the competence and readiness of the ministry’s athletes and their commitment to achieving the best results.
