FOOTBALL – The Bahrain Football Association (BFA) announced yesterday that it signed a strategic partnership agreement with the kingdom’s national carrier Gulf Air, under which Gulf Air becomes the official carrier of Bahrain’s national football teams during their international competitions.
The signing ceremony took place at Awal Private Terminal at Bahrain International Airport, where the deal was signed by BFA president Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa and Gulf Air Group chairman Khalid Hussain Taqi in the presence of BFA vice-president Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa and several board members and representatives from both organisations.
Shaikh Ali emphasised that the partnership aligns with the BFA’s commitment to strengthening co-operation with leading national institutions, enhancing the support provided to national teams, and ensuring optimal travel conditions for players and staff during international engagements.
He praised Gulf Air’s long-standing role in supporting Bahraini sports and contributing to the country’s presence on various athletic stages.
Taqi expressed the airline’s pride in concluding this partnership, noting that it comes as part of its firm commitment to supporting Bahraini and international sports, as well as its strategic vision to position the kingdom as a global destination for sports and tourism.
He added: “Supporting the national teams is an integral part of Gulf Air’s commitment to the Bahraini community and the sports sector. As the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, we will provide advanced travel services that meet the needs of the national teams and their technical and administrative staff, thereby facilitating their participation and enhancing their overall readiness.”
Through this partnership, the BFA continues to build strategic alliances that advance the development of the sport, while Gulf Air reaffirms its role as a dedicated national partner supporting Bahrain’s sporting ambitions.
