FOOTBALL – The Rotary Club of Manama will be holding on Friday the 46th Rotary Charity Six-A-Side Football Tournament at Central Club in Hamala.
The event, which begins at 2.30pm, is open to the public and welcomes families, football enthusiasts, corporate teams, schools, and community members.
Now in its 46th edition, the annual tournament has become a valued fixture on Bahrain’s community calendar.
Guided by the Rotary Club of Manama’s motto ‘Unite for Good – Impact for Good’, the proceeds from this year’s event will directly support initiatives focused on reducing single-use plastics and promoting responsible consumption across the community; advancing maternal and child health programmes; enhancing schoolchildren’s well-being and nutrition; strengthening food security for vulnerable families; and delivering year-round community impact projects aligned with environmental and social priorities.
These efforts reflect the club’s long-standing dedication to improving lives and supporting sustainable change across the kingdom.
As part of their responsible environmental practices for this year’s tournament, the Rotary Club of Manama has introduced new sustainability measures designed to minimise waste and encourage behavioural change.
To reduce single-use plastics, free water dispensers will be available throughout the venue in place of plastic water bottles, and all participants and spectators are requested to bring their own reusable water bottles.
In addition, clearly marked waste-separation bins will be placed across the event grounds to support proper recycling.
The collected waste will be processed in partnership with Masar, ensuring that recyclable materials are diverted from landfill and handled responsibly.
This year’s tournament is supported by GIB, Foolath, the American School of Bahrain, NBB, BMMI, Bapco Energies, American Express, the University College of Bahrain, GFH, GDN, GIG, KPMG, Max, Al Noor School, ASC, Masar, and Royal Bahrain Hospital.
The raffle sponsors are Auriga, Ghulams Bespoke Tailoring, Alnada Training Centre, Dammani Designs, and Sharif Group.
