Information Minister Dr Ramzan Al Nuaimi has emphasised Bahrain’s commitment to promoting a responsible media environment and protecting society from misinformation amid rapid global changes in the media landscape.
He was addressing a panel discussion on building an integrated information system, alongside specialists, policymakers and media professionals, as part of his participation yesterday in Bridge Summit 2025 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
The largest media and content exhibition brought together more than 60,000 media policymakers, content creators, entrepreneurs, investors and researchers, alongside more than 400 international speakers and 300 participants.
He outlined the kingdom’s vision for building an information system based on integrity and reliability, highlighting the importance of improving content and source verification and updating national legislation to keep pace with digital developments.
He pointed to the recent enactment of Bahrain’s Press and Digital Media Law, which includes key updates to support professional and responsible digital publishing.
Dr Al Nuaimi noted that the kingdom follows a balanced approach, preserving national identity and values while enhancing international co-operation to address cross-border information challenges and support a stable media environment.
He underlined Bahrain’s commitment to working with regional and international partners to develop a more integrated and reliable media landscape that meets public expectations and future needs.
He also participated in a high-level closed session on alliances to promote integrity in global media, attended by a number of international leaders in political and media fields.
Discussions highlighted rapid changes in the global information landscape, reviewed leading international perspectives and experiences on promoting information integrity, addressed challenges related to misleading content, and explored the responsible use of AI technologies.
On the sidelines of the summit, Dr Al Nuaimi met UAE National Media Office chairman Shaikh Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed.
He commended the longstanding relations between Bahrain and the UAE, which continue to develop across all domains.
