Residential neighbourhoods mainly in the Capital Governorate that have come under attack in recent days – home to families, businesses and some of Bahrain’s most cosmopolitan communities – will continue to receive essential services.
Capital Trustees Board chairman Saleh Tarradah strongly condemned the ‘heinous Iranian attacks’ targeting residential areas during the holy month of Ramadan at an online meeting of members.
Mr Tarradah said members, employees and affiliates of the board, along with their families, stood united behind the nation’s leadership, pledging to continue with its work regardless of the challenges.
“We stand as one row around the flag of the nation, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad, and we have full confidence in the measures taken by the government, headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to confront this criminal aggression,” he said.
He noted that the attacks had extended into residential neighbourhoods in the Capital Governorate, including Juffair, Manama, Sitra and Seef, causing death, injuries and damage to homes and property.
Mr Tarradah expressed appreciation for the field visits carried out by HRH Prince Salman, ministers and senior officials, as well as the Capital Governor, to assess the situation and ensure swift response measures.
He also praised directives issued to enhance the readiness of state institutions, maintain essential services and reinforce security and stability across the country.
Mr Tarradah welcomed the government’s decision to address damage to citizens’ homes caused by the attacks, stressing that Bahrain would remain united and resilient under its leadership.
Capital Trustees Authority (Municipality) director-general Alya Yousif added that a ‘strong team’ was ready, able and prepared to tackle any cleanup operation necessary once given the green light by the security and defence authorities concerned.
Muharraq Municipal Council chairman Abdulaziz Al Naar also reaffirmed full support for the national leadership and government measures in response to the aggression.
Speaking on behalf of council members, he said the council also stood ‘as one line behind the flag of the nation’ and its leaders.
Mr Al Naar who held an in person meeting said the council supported all steps taken to safeguard national security and protect the kingdom’s stability.
He added that backing government measures during such circumstances reflected a shared national responsibility and a commitment to overcoming challenges, while stressing that services would carry on regardless.
“The current stage requires everyone to unite and work with a spirit of teamwork to reinforce stability and preserve the achievements of this nation while ensuring the safety of citizens and residents,” he said.
Northern Municipal Council chairman Dr Sayed Shubbar Al Wedaie stressed the importance of national solidarity in confronting external threats.
Speaking during the council’s meeting, held remotely due to the exceptional circumstances, he said Bahrain was going through some difficult and painful conditions.
“We pray to God Almighty to bless the Kingdom of Bahrain with security and safety and that this hardship will soon pass,” he said.
Dr Al Wedaie said the people of Bahrain stood united with their leadership and fully supported the measures being taken to defend the country’s interests and safeguard security and stability.
He added that national unity remained the strongest shield against external challenges and dangers.
Southern Municipal Council chairman Abdulla Abdullatif warned during the online meeting that the attacks were not limited to residential areas, but also targeted vital infrastructure.
He said attempts had been made to strike energy facilities including those operated by Bapco Refining, as well as water desalination plants.
“These attacks aimed to damage national infrastructure and endanger workers at these facilities,” he said.
Mr Abdullatif praised the efforts of the Bahrain Defence Force and security agencies for confronting the threats and protecting the country’s vital installations.
He added that municipal councils across Bahrain remained committed to supporting national efforts to protect the kingdom’s security and ensure the safety of all who live and work in Bahrain.
