Qatar now allows residents born in the country and children of Qatari mothers to enlist in the military, should they choose to do so.
The Justice Ministry announced the changes after adjustments to the National Service law were made by decree of the Deputy Prime
Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs, Shaikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan bin Ali Al Thani.
The amendments aim to enhance preparedness while offering more opportunities for residents in the country, with benefits including monthly allowances of up to QR 7,000 (approximately BD 725).
Enlistment is open to anyone regardless of gender, as long as they are between the ages of 18 and 25, medically fit and have no criminal record.
