The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) issued a decision approving the Cyber Security Standards for Critical Sectors, the National Programme for Measuring Cyber Security Maturity, and the National Programme for Assessing Cyber Security Risks.
The move is part of efforts to strengthen the national cyber security framework and enhance protection, cyber security maturity and preparedness among entities in critical sectors.
This framework aims to help entities enhance cyber governance, measure maturity and preparedness, identify and assess cyber risks, and prioritise their mitigation, supporting risk-based decision-making and enhancing the protection and continuity of critical systems and services.
NCSC cybersecurity operations deputy chief executive officer Shaikh Abdulla bin Mohamed Al Khalifa said the adoption of the framework represents an important step in advancing national cybersecurity efforts.
“Integrating cybersecurity standards with the maturity measurement and risk assessment programmes will provide entities with a clear and systematic framework to identify security requirements, measure their implementation and development, and set priorities based on cyber risks.
“The framework aims to establish a unified national approach to cybersecurity based on risk, measurement and continuous improvement.”
