Zaigham Maseel, former Pakistan Olympics team coach and the boxing silver medallist at the 1994 Asian Games, praised the initiatives by Bahrain to host Brave 17 in Pakistan.
Brave 17, the first international mixed martial arts event to take place in Pakistan, will be held on October 27 in Lahore.
Zaigham is currently the director of sports at Pakistan School in Bahrain. He also trains boxers and KHK MMA fighter Abbas Khan.
“The initiatives by Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa is transforming the future of sports not just in the kingdom, but around the world. The noble initiative to bring the first and only international mixed martial arts event to Pakistan is a prime example. Brave 17 will allow the skilled athletes from Pakistan to compete in a global level against international fighters. This will improve the development of sports as well as the relation between the two nations. I am certain that Bahrain is the leading force in combat sports in the region not only because of dominating the sport but also due to its focus on developing the sports globally and supporting global athletes,” said Zaigham.
