Mark Owen Endler of Germany and Britain’s Alexander Knox Jones advanced to the second round of the second Shine Bahrain Super Series ITF Junior Tournament, being held at Bahrain Tennis Federation courts in Isa Town.
In the opening round yesterday, fourth seed Mark, the winner of the ITF junior championship at Bahrain Tennis Club (BTC) last week, defeated Yigit Cengiz Binici of Turkey 4-6, 6-0, 6-1.
Third-seeded Alexander, the runner-up at the BTC event, eased past Sai Bairaav Mannju of India 6-3, 6-1.
The girls’ champion at last week’s ITF event, Issey Purser of Britain, meanwhile, got a walkover against Avrora Volkova of Russia.
In the doubles, top seeds Garv Bahl of India and Nicolas Moser endured a tough challenge posed by India’s Vivek Kolluru and Stavros to win 6-4, 7-5.
Second-seeded Mark and Pablo Trochu of France advanced after defeating Bahrain’s Ali Al Sharif and Mohammed Alkhan 6-0, 6-0.
