Port Lions, owned by Victorious, claimed the Al Adiyat Racing Cup after easing to victory in yesterday’s eighth race at the Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club.
Port Lions, trained by Fawzi Nass and ridden by David Egan, won the 1,800 metre race by three and one fourth length to pocket a prize money of BD8,000.
The class 1 grade 2 race was held for imported horses three years old and above.
His Majesty’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa attended the event.
Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club High Committee vice chairman Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa and Supreme Council for the Environment (SCE) vice president Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid bin Isa Al Khalifa also attended.
In second spot was Medal Winner, owned by Al Mohamediya Racing, trained by Hussain Aldailami and ridden by Paddy Mathers, while Macaque, owned by Victorious, trained by Hesham Al Haddad and ridden by Marcialis Jaures, finished third.
The seventh race of the day, for the Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup, was won by Ramadhan Stable’s Likethelook.
The winner of the 1,000m race for imported horses three years old and upwards was trained by Jaber Ramadhan and ridden by Seamus Cronin.
It finished ahead of Gunners Racing’s Four Wheel Drive and Londin Look, owned by Karrar Abdulhadi Ali Al Baqqali, who were second and third respectively.
Meanwhile, KHK Racing’s Al Tariq, trained by Hesham Al Haddad and ridden by Husain Makki, won the Shaikh Hamad bin Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa Cup for local-bred horses three years old and above after powering past Daleel, owned by Shaikh Hamad bin Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa.
Campolina, owned by Abdulla Fawzi Nass, finished third.
Al Adiyat Racing’s Byline won the fifth race for the Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club Cup while Pont Vert, owned by Jassim Mohammed Asad, claimed victory in the fourth race for Shaikh Salman bin Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa Cup.
KHK Racing’s Waseela won the third race for the Shaikh Abdulla bin Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa Cup while Sadara, owned by Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa won the second race for the Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Salman Al Khalifa Cup.
The first race of the day, for the Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup, was won by Victorious team’s Kuheilan Afas 1708.
