Riffa clinched the King Cup defeating Al Ahli 2-0 in the final held at the Bahrain National Stadium last night.
Jassim Al Shaikh and Kamil Al Aswad were on target for Riffa, scoring both goals in the second half.
Al Shaikh struck in the 57th minute and Al Aswad followed suit 20 minutes later.
This is Riffa’s sixth King Cup triumph from 13 finals.
His Majesty King Hamad deputised Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) first deputy chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa to attend the final.
Shaikh Khalid presented Riffa with the trophy and gold medals and conveyed greetings and congratulations from His Majesty on the achievement.
He paid tribute to the King for his support to the sports sector which enables Bahrain to achieve honourable results and enhance its standing at the regional and international levels.
His Majesty’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa hailed Bahrain’s achievements in sports, paying tribute to the King for his support.
He congratulated the Riffa Club board, chaired by Shaikh Abdulla bin Khalid Al Khalifa, commending the efforts of the players as well as technical and administrative staff.
Youth and Sports Affairs Minister Aymen Almoayyed and SCYS secretary general Shaikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa also congratulated Riffa Club over the victory.
