Port Douglas of Al Hassanain Syndicate sealed an impressive victory to clinch the Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard (Asry) Cup at the 20th race of the season, organised by Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club at its race track in Sakhir yesterday.
Trained by Ali Jan and ridden by Ebrahim Nader, the winner raced past Exec Chef of Al Mohamediya Racing and Y&A Syndicate’s Purgatory in the eighth contest of the day to claim a prize of BD5,000.
Al Adiyat Racing’s Alejandro emerged winner in the seventh race for Shaikh Abdulla bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup. News Breaker of Victorious was second and Campolina, owned by Abdulla Fawzi Nass, finished third.
Bond’s Boy of Al Mohamediya Racing claimed the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club Cup for the sixth-race winner while M and E Racing’s Happy Craf won the fifth race for Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Cup.
Aleko, owned by Naser Ali Naser Almoamen, claimed victory in the fourth race for Shaikh Sultan bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup while Naahy, owned by Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa, won the third race for Shaikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup.
Meanwhile, the second race of the day was won by Afnan, owned by Abdulla Fawzi Nass and Al Riffa’s Al Hamdany 1746 raced to victory in the first race for Shaikh Sultan bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cup.
The event was attended by Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club High Committee chairman Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representatives of sponsor Asry as well as other dignitaries and guests.
