Paris Football Club beat Sochaux 2-1 in an away match in the French second division Ligue 2.
Gaetan Laura struck the first goal six minutes into the match before teammate Ali Abdi doubled the score in the 70th minute, sealing the victory for Paris FC.
Chris Bedia reduced the score for his team in injury time.
With this crucial win, Paris FC remain in the fray either to get promoted directly to the first division or play in the qualifying promotion play-off.
Paris FC are now in fifth place with 54 points, behind Grenoble (54), Clermont (56), Toulouse (58) and Troyes (61).
Paris FC will play a crucial match against leaders Troyes on Saturday.
The King’s representative for humanitarian work and youth affairs Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa praised the performance of the team which play under Victorious Bahrain.
“The ‘Victorious Bahrain’ logo shines in the sky of French stadiums and has become a milestone in placing the kingdom’s name in the largest foreign forums, which contributes to achieving Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 by exploiting sports events that are a major contributor to this vision,” he said.
He stressed the importance of the win against Socheaux which, he said, augurs well for the remaining matches, wishing the team success in their match against Troyes.
Shaikh Nasser also praised Cordoba CF following their win against Tamaraceite in the promotion play-offs of the Spanish Segunda División B’s Group IV.
Shaikh Nasser underlined his keenness to support Cordoba CF to achieve its main goal which is to reach LaLiga Santander, stating that the victory has fuelled the team’s enthusiasm. He further added that the win reflects the development of the team and their desire to compete for a berth in the men’s top professional football division in Spain.
Group IV comprises six teams: Cordoba CF, Sevilla FC B, Cadiz CF B, Tamaraceite, Murcia and Linense.
