Bahraini athlete Eunice Chumba has qualified for the Tokyo Olympic Games after finishing third in the General Milan Marathon, clocking 2:23:10 hours.
Ethiopian Hiwot Gebremaryam Gebrekidan finished first clocking 2:19:35 hours, followed by Kenyan Racheal Jemutai Mutgaa who covered the race in 2:22:50 hours. Thirty-three runners were at the starting line of the Milan Marathon, five of whom failed to complete the race.
Bahraini ‘Bilao’ has also booked a spot in the Olympics, which will be held this summer in Japan. He finished second in the 10km race in the World Athletics Continental Tour Gold, in Ostrava last Wednesday, clocking 27:07:49 hours. The 27-year-old athlete set a new Bahraini record and showed his readiness to shine in the upcoming Olympic Games.
