The Pakistani Women’s Association (PWA) is an active and dedicated group which has been relentlessly working for humanitarian causes since 1998.
PWA stands strong in support of Pakistanis (and other nationalities) through its charitable causes and welfare activities. One of the association’s core initiatives is to support and educate deserving children through its Education Scholarship Fund (ESF).
Currently, the ESF supports approximately 60 students of multiple nationalities at the Pakistan School, as well as other educational institutions with the aid of its spirited public donors. Special mention goes to St Christopher’s School for generously assisting a total of seven students under this scheme.
PWA is happy to announce that it will soon launch its ‘Support a Child’ programme to further enhance ESF’s outreach. During the past year, the association has been committed to bringing relief to families struggling in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. It has provided rations, rental provisions and medical assistance to several families in the kingdom.
PWA elected a new board this year (2021-2022) which includes president Shahmeen Islam, vice president Ammara Omar, general secretary Dr Shazia Durrani, assistant general secretary Mahwash Shiekh, community service head Mishal Zaman, public relations and communications head Ayesha Ahmad, treasurer Hamna Arif and ESF co-ordinator Shahzadi Hussain.
One of the board’s upcoming plans includes initiating a student collaborative and executing online webinars. In this way the new members hope to take the organisation’s mission forward as envisioned by its founders and the outgoing board.
Furthermore, the PWA would like to warmly thank the Pakistan Embassy and particularly the Honourable Ambassador of the Islamic Republic Pakistan to the Kingdom of Bahrain, H E Muhammad Ayub, for his meeting with the members of PWA’s board.
In addition, the PWA is thankful to the Pakistan mission in Bahrain for its invitation to meet the Honourable Foreign Minister of Pakistan H E Shah Mahmood Qureshi during which the PWA was represented by its president Ms Islam.
Most importantly, the PWA is ever-grateful to its members, supporters and donors for their endless encouragement and patronage without which the organisation’s work would not have been made possible.
The Pakistani Women’s Association cordially invites women in Bahrain to join them as members and further help the cause of PWA.
