Al Hala clinched their third victory of the season overcoming Isa Town 115-107 in a fifth-week game of the Zain Bahrain Basketball League at the Zain Arena in Um Al Hassam last night.
Hala made a brisk start taking the opening quarter 26-11 but Isa Town bounced back to check Hala’s dominance, trimming a 15-point half-time deficit to eight. Isa Town were the better team in the second half when they scored 72 points while Hala could only manage 65.
Amir Williams led the winners with 29 points, 24 rebounds and four assists while Ahmed Khalifa totalled 28 points with two rebounds and seven assists. Talal Qaheri was the top scorer for Isa Town with 27 points.
Hala, who defeated Samaheej 78-68 in the opening week and saw off Bahrain Club 77-60 in the third week, take on Al Ettihad in the next round.
Earlier, Sitra sealed their first victory of the season, recovering after trailing by four points at half-time to sink Nuwaidrat 78-67.
Marcel Jones led the way with 32 points, 14 rebounds and one assist.
Two more players finished with double-digit scoring for Sitra – Ali Eid totalled 16 points while Nawaf Nabeel notched 10.
For Nuwaidrat, Anthony Walker dropped a game-high 33 points.
Al Ahli, who have stayed perfect so far in the season, lead the standings with 10 points from five games while Muharraq are second with eight points from four games. Hala occupy the third spot with eight points from five games.
