A total of 16kg of narcotics, with an estimated street value of more than BD113,000, have been seized from 19 people in separate raids.
The Interior Ministry announced, in a statement yesterday, that upon receiving information about the illegal racket, investigations and intelligence operations were launched, leading to the identification and arrest of the suspects in possession of the drugs.
The age and nationality of the suspects were not mentioned.
The General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science said that the substances were confiscated, and necessary legal measures were taken, with the cases referred to the Public Prosecution.
The ministry statement added that the raids were carried out by the Anti-Narcotics Directorate of the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science “to protect society from the scourge of drugs”.
The operations were conducted in co-operation with Customs Affairs and an air cargo company.
