CRICKET – Diplomat Radisson Blu B became the first team to qualify for the play-offs in the ninth Inter-Hotel Charity Cricket Tournament, being played at The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain.
Diplomat Radisson Blu B secured their berth with two hard-earned victories in the Super Six stage on day 15 of the competition.
They first defeated The K Hotel Bahrain by two wickets, with Joby Antony scoring 13 runs en route to being named the Man of the Match.
Diplomat Radisson Blu B then posted their second victory of the day after beating Downtown Rotana by one wicket. Ahsan Ali was impressive with the bat, firing in 31 runs in the narrow win.
Also claiming two victories on the day were Lagoona Resort A. They edged past Trader Vic’s Bahrain A by a single run in their opening encounter, as Mohammed Younis top scored with 17 runs.
Lagoona Resort A then followed it up with a 38-run triumph against The K Hotel. Younis was once again his team’s Man of the Match, scoring 12 runs.
In another contest on day 15, Downtown Rotana beat The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain in Super Over. Arun Singh was Downtown Rotana’s Man of the Match. He spearheaded his side with 12 runs.
The tournament final is scheduled to take place on Sunday evening. It will be followed by the awards presentation and closing ceremony.
