MIXED MARTIAL ARTS – A team of officials from Bahrain successfully spearheaded the organisation of the 2024 IMMAF African Championships, held at Windhoek, Namibia.
A total of 170 fighters representing 10 countries from across the African continent competed in the event, organised by the International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF).
The Bahraini delegation was headed by Bahrain Mixed Martial Arts Federation (BMMAF) president and Asian Mixed Martial Arts Federation president Mohamed Qamber, and included Iman Abdulla, Rashid Majeran and Ibrahim Oun.
The kingdom’s team received great praise from the IMMAF and participating African federations for their professionalism in the organisation and management of the competition.
According to the Bahrain Combat Sports Council, the event marked the eighth time Bahrain has assisted in holding an IMMAF event, and the second time the kingdom’s officials organised the African championships, with the previous edition held in Angola.
Bahrain’s involvement comes through the co-operation and partnership between the IMMAF and the BMMAF, which has raised its standing on the global MMA stage behind the vision of Supreme Council for Youth and Sport first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
