Maintenance work has been completed on 38 government schools, according to a top official.
Works Ministry assistant under-secretary for construction and maintenance projects Mariam Amin said that it was part of the ministry’s programme for 2024 under which maintenance work was to be carried out in 86 schools in all governorates as agreed with the Education Ministry.

“The aim of the maintenance work on these schools was to preserve the safety of the buildings’ structural integrity, improve their internal environment, extend their lifespan, ensure their sustainability and raise their value and operational efficiency,” said Ms Amin. “This will support the educational needs while preserving the facilities and their contents, all for the safety of the building’s users, in the belief that it would support the education sector and confirm the government’s approach that serves the goals of sustainable development.”

The official added that the maintenance of 16 schools in the Capital Governorate has been completed, including Sanad Elementary School for Boys, Halima Al Saadia Intermediate School for Girls, Khawla Secondary School for Girls, Sitra Intermediate School for Girls, Yarmouk Elementary School for Boys and the Religious Institute – Elementary, and Sanabis Intermediate School for Girls.

As for the Southern Governorate, the number of schools that were maintained during 2024 reached 10 schools, including Aali Primary School for Girls, Buri Primary School for Boys, Hamad Town Intermediate School for Girls, Fatima Bint Asad Primary School for Girls, Karzakan Primary School for Boys, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Primary and Intermediate School for Boys, and Al Nahda Primary School for Girls.

In Habban, the number of government schools that were maintained in the Southern Governorate reached four schools, namely Othman bin Affan Intermediate School for Boys, Omar bin Abdul Aziz Intermediate School for Boys, Riffa Al Sharqi Intermediate School for Girls, and Umaima bint Al Numan Secondary School for Girls.

Maintenance work on eight schools in Muharraq Governorate has also been completed, including Al K hwarizmi Primary School for Boys, Muharraq Commercial Secondary School for Boys, Tariq Bin Ziyad Intermediate School for Boys, Muharraq Primary School for Girls, Zubaydah Primary School for Girls, and Al Hadd Primary School for Boys.
The ministry is currently carrying out maintenance work on eight government schools included in the programme in the four governorates.
