BASKETBALL – Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority (GSA) chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa issued Edict 1 of 2025 regarding the formation of the organising committee supervising the 2025 Fiba Mid-Term Congress and Hall of Fame Ceremony.
The edict stated that upon reviewing the Law on Associations, Social and Cultural Clubs, Special Committees Working in the Field of Youth and Sports, and Private Foundations, issued by Decree-Law 21 of 1989 and its amendments, as well as the unified statute of sports federations and the regulations and rules of both the Bahrain Basketball Association (BBA) and Fiba, the organising committee for the 2025 Fiba Mid-Term Congress and Hall of Fame Ceremony in Bahrain has been established.
The committee is chaired by BOC vice president Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa. Its members include GSA CEO Dr Abdulrahman Askar, BOC secretary general Fares Al Kooheji, Public Security Presidency director of operations Colonel Hamad Mohammed Al Khayat, and BBA president Alaa Mudara.
The committee also includes representatives from the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA) and the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), along with a rapporteur for the committee’s work appointed by the committee’s chairman.
