HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister has affirmed that education is one of the most important sectors for the kingdom’s development, as it empowers citizens with knowledge, creativity and innovations to foster progress and growth.
His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa made the statement yesterday as he met Education Minister and Bahrain University board of trustees chairman Dr Mohammed Mubarak Juma and board members at Gudaibiya Palace.
HRH Prince Salman highlighted the importance of continuing to enhance the kingdom’s education sector to equip the citizens, its most valuable asset and the foundation of its future, with the knowledge and skills needed to drive Bahrain’s development under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad.
He commended the role of Bahrain University in providing promising educational opportunities and various fields of study, enabling secondary school graduates to complete their higher education, and meet the requirements of the labour market, which contributes to enhancing their competitiveness.
“The kingdom’s future is shaped by the determination and knowledge of its people, who drive its developmental aspirations forward,” he said.
HRH Prince Salman stressed the importance of ongoing efforts by leaders of higher education institutions to turn challenges into opportunities.
He noted that Bahrain University’s role as the kingdom’s first national university bears an additional responsibility to enhance qualitative developments. He urged the institution to adopt world-class academic and administrative practices that align with the kingdom’s educational policies and strategies.
He encouraged research that would enhance productivity across the economy and support researchers in their efforts to find sustainable solutions across a range of domains.
Dr Juma and the university board members expressed their appreciation for HRH Prince Salman’s commitment to developing the kingdom’s education sector in a way that supports development. They also pledged to continue their efforts to implement the desired visions and aspirations.
Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa also attended the meeting.
