RICH culture and top-level talent were on display at the annual day celebration of a local school staged across two days.
Bhavans-Bahrain Indian School (BIS) successfully hosted the 11th edition of the programme Anveshana (Hindi for ‘exploration’) at the Cultural Hall for the senior section yesterday.
Education Ministry representative and chief guest Huwaida Saleh Aldoseri and BIS top management were present at the event, which was also attended by parents who were there to support the young performers.
The junior division event on Wednesday was graced by Indian Embassy second secretary Ravi Kumar Jain as chief guest.
The celebrations began with the lighting of the lamp by the chief guest and BIS top management.
The older students presented an array of stellar performances, including a diverse selection of songs and vibrant dances.
The creative performances painted a picture of India’s many cultural and mythological stories, with energetic choreography bringing alive the characters.
There were acts that nodded to Bahrain’s culture as well, all reflecting the children’s love for both countries.
An engaging play based on the animated musical historical drama film Pocahontas was also staged.
The junior section programme featured equally riveting performances, showcasing diverse Indian culture. A play inspired by the children’s book series Harry Potter had the audience rapt, and a dance show by the kindergarten children entitled Rhythms of Affection portrayed the heartwarming theme of fatherhood.
One of the major highlights was the release of the school’s annual magazine by Ms Aldoseri, BIS directors Himansu and Ritu Verma, and principal Saji Jacob.
“Education is not just about imparting knowledge but also about nurturing character and instilling values that will guide our students throughout their lives,” Mr Verma said.
“As we reflect on this past year, we are reminded of the dreams and aspirations that drive us forward. Let us continue to foster an environment of learning and creativity, where every student can thrive,” he added.
“We celebrate not just our accomplishments, but the hard work and dedication of each student and staff member,” Ms Ritu Verma added. “This day is a reminder that together, we can overcome challenges and continue to strive for excellence.”
BIS principal Saji Jacob welcomed and thanked attendees and highlighted the importance of cultural events in fostering unity and creativity within the school.
“Anveshana means ‘exploration’ and education is not a destination but a journey of discovery and exploration,” he noted.
Mr Verma presented a cheque of BD1,000 on behalf of the school to Royal Humanitarian Foundation assistant secretary general representative Yusuf Al Yaqoob, who thanked the school for the gesture. The donation will be used to meet the needs of underprivileged women and children.
