The new national state budget 2025-2026 must be without deficit and have indicators charting a policy that will help curb public debt and achieve surpluses in the future, MPs have said. “The new budget must be able to achieve fiscal balance with revenues covering expenditures without the emergence of any deficit, they told our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej, outlining their visions and aspirations for the new budget.
They also emphasised the need to continue driving economic growth, which is essential in working out solutions for fiscal sustainability. The new budget will focus mainly on improving citizens’ living conditions and re-directing subsidies to those most in need.
The MPs underlined the importance of expediting the implementation of housing, health, educational and services projects, and increasing the rate of Bahrainisation in the public and private sectors. They also pointed out the necessity to work on providing new quality job opportunities for Bahrainis by focusing on industrial projects capable of raising the Gross National Product (GNP).
There must also be a comprehensive overview regarding food security by giving priority to projects aimed at achieving that by reducing reliance on imports, they stressed. They also underscored the need for the new budget to support sustainability and stability of the retirement funds by protecting the rights of the subscribers. They called for synergised efforts to boost the national economy, promote development and achieve aspirations for growth and prosperity.
