Transportation and Telecommunications Minister and King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence (KHGC) chairman Dr Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa met Thattai Hindu Community (THMC) chairman Mahesh Bhatia and his accompanying delegation.
Dr Shaikh Abdulla commended Bahrain’s status as a global beacon of tolerance, cultural and ethnic diversity, and respect for freedom of religion under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Dr Shaikh Abdulla expressed appreciation for the Indian community’s role in enhancing the historic ties and co-operation between Bahrain and India. He acknowledged their contributions to economic development and enriching cultural diversity within the framework of tolerance, peaceful coexistence, and harmony among all segments of society.
He emphasised KHGC’s commitment to collaborating with THMC to support cultural, social, and developmental education. He also highlighted the importance of promoting the role of religious and civil society institutions in fostering values of tolerance, harmony, and mutual respect. He commended THMC’s efforts in the humanitarian, voluntary, and commercial sectors.
On his part, Mr Bhatia commended the support received by the Indian community, across all its religions and sects, for its economic and social activities and the practice of religious rituals in an atmosphere of goodwill, freedom, and security. He attributed this to the royal support, the efforts of the government, and the attention provided by the KHGC.
The meeting was attended by KHGC board of trustees member Sushil Muljimal and KHGC executive director Abdullah Mannai.
