Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa yesterday received DePaul University president Dr Robert Manuel.
They reviewed the strategic relations between Bahrain and the US, particularly in education.
Shaikh Khalid emphasised Bahrain’s commitment to strengthening international partnerships with renowned universities and academic institutions to enhance the quality of education, provide diverse educational opportunities for Bahraini students locally and abroad, and benefit from advanced experiences in curriculum development in line with global best practices and standards.
Shaikh Khalid highlighted the role of education in Bahrain’s comprehensive development process, led by His Majesty King Hamad and supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Shaikh Khalid emphasised that developing education, adapting it to changes, and aligning its outcomes with the labour market are key priorities in national strategies. He noted that education is essential for building human capital.
Shaikh Khalid commended DePaul University for their partnership with local educational institutions through joint academic programmes.
He underscored the commitment to enhance co-operation with the university in areas such as student and faculty exchange programmes, organising training initiatives and launching research projects that promote creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship in both countries.
Dr Manuel commended Bahrain’s efforts in advancing higher education, developing academic programmes and collaborating with international educational and academic institutions.
