His Majesty King Hamad received United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) director-general Audrey Azoulay at his residence in France.
His Majesty expressed pride in the co-operation between Bahrain and Unesco and their collaboration to foster cultural exchange and knowledge-sharing among nations. His Majesty noted Bahrain’s distinguished position on the global cultural and developmental scene, underpinned by its rich civilisation, historical landmarks and heritage rooted in tolerance and openness to diverse human cultures.
His Majesty reiterated Bahrain’s continuous support for Unesco’s efforts, initiatives and activities both locally and across the Arab region. He also noted that the final communique of the Arab Summit, currently chaired by Bahrain, has emphasised the importance of collaboration with Unesco in the field of education.
The King expressed appreciation for Unesco’s interest in the ‘Unesco-King Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa Prize for the Use of ICT in Education’, which has reached its 15th edition and gained significant international recognition for its noble and impactful objectives.
Ms Azoulay expressed her gratitude to His Majesty and praised Bahrain’s role and active efforts in supporting Unesco’s initiatives across various fields.
His Majesty separately received LVMH chief executive Bernard Arnault, along with a delegation of businessmen.
The meeting at His Majesty’s residence in Paris was part of His Majesty’s visit to France.
His Majesty welcomed the attendees and wished them success in their plans and initiatives, highlighting the strong ties between Bahrain and France.
He expressed appreciation for the pivotal role of French businessmen and their Bahraini counterparts in strengthening co-operation. His Majesty underscored the importance of capitalising on existing agreements, expanding trade exchanges and launching joint investment projects to achieve mutual benefits.
His Majesty reaffirmed Bahrain’s commitment to fostering a supportive and investor friendly business environment that adheres to the highest international standards, further solidifying the kingdom’s position as a key investment hub regionally and globally.
The King returned to Bahrain following the visit to France.
During the visit, he held discussions with President Emmanuel Macron, focusing on the development of the strong relations between the two countries, ways to expand co-operation across all fields, and the latest regional and international developments.
