People of all faiths came together to celebrate peace and togetherness in a multicultural group meditation event at the Isa Cultural Centre yesterday.
Organised by Art of Living (AOL) Bahrain, the interactive session witnessed the participation of more than 110 people who were guided by coaches and wellness experts.
They include AOL chapter co-ordinator Dr Bhramara Madduri, May Awadh and Anfal Al Qumaish.
“People from all walks of life came to the event,” AOL teacher co-ordinator Sunita Malhotra told the GDN.
“Members of multiple churches, Sikh temples, Hindu temples, along with Muslims and observers of the Baha’i faith took part in the meditation.
“All had a wonderful and blissful experience and the turnout was fantastic.
“We are all flowers in one bouquet!”
Ms Awadh, who works as a trainer for the Interior Ministry’s open prisons project, led an activity that encouraged attendees to be more mindful of the present. Everyone did breathing exercises and clapped in unison.
After the guided meditations, those who attended the session were presented with glittery shawls and books.
Ms Malhotra highlighted that the inter-faith meditation came as part of celebrations after the UN declared December 21 as World Meditation Day.
“We are grateful to the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence for bringing us all under one roof and inviting faith leaders to join the meditation,” she said.
“Even though we have group meditations every week, we are inspired to do more inter-faith events. It could even become an annual occurrence.”
