Supreme Council for Youth and Sport first deputy chairman, General Sports Authority chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa chaired the first meeting of the supreme organising committee for the third Asian Youth Games, scheduled to be hosted by Bahrain from October 22 to 30.
Shaikh Khalid expressed his gratitude to His Majesty King Hamad for his patronage of the event, emphasising that this support reflects the King’s unwavering commitment to sports and will greatly contribute to the success of the Games.
Shaikh Khalid also commended the members of the supreme organising committee for their expertise, which will play a key role in ensuring the success of the event, hosted in Bahrain for the first time. He highlighted the importance of co-operation among ministries and government entities to provide the necessary resources and services to deliver a high-standard event that reflects Bahrain’s reputation in hosting major sports events.
The committee approved the appointment of Yousef Duaij as chairman of the executive committee and Ahmed Abdul Ghaffar as deputy chairman, both of whom are members of the supreme organising committee.
The meeting emphasised the importance of ensuring the readiness of all sports facilities, preparing accommodations for delegations, developing plans for all working committees, and providing various services and facilities. It also highlighted the need to begin participant registration in co-ordination with the Olympic Council of Asia.
Various aspects of the event were discussed, along with ways to complete all necessary arrangements with less than ten months remaining until its launch, aiming to ensure its overall success.
Shaikh Khalid wished all members continued success in their efforts.
