In response to recent media reports on a proposal to remove a restriction on benefiting from a housing service for inherited property, the Housing and Urban Planning Ministry clarified that this policy change had already been implemented.
A Cabinet decision in August last year removed the condition disqualifying a husband from housing benefits because of his wife’s inheritance of a property.
The ministry emphasised that the circulated proposal advocating for this change had already been put into effect immediately after the Cabinet’s decision. Statements and recommendations attributed to the ministry in the media had been issued before the decision was made. When the decision was announced last August, it received widespread approval from citizens and legislators for allowing affected families to keep their applications active.
The parliamentary Public Utilities and Environment Committee praised the decision, commending positive collaboration between the executive and legislative branches on this issue.
