The third edition of ‘From the Post’ kicked off at Manama suq on Saturday and will be held every Saturday during the month.
The cultural programme is part of the 19th Spring of Culture festival and will feature engaging activities for the public to rediscover Manama, its history, markets, old neighbourhoods, arts and architecture.
The inaugural event, held in collaboration with the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence, unfolded under the theme ‘Connections of Manama’.
The day began with the Manama for All tour, which explored significant religious landmarks across the city.
Bahraini artists participated in Live Outdoor Painting: Manama Canvas, capturing their artistic interpretations of the coexistence and cultural harmony that define both Bahrain and its capital, Manama.
In the evening, visitors joined a photography tour at Minaret Al Fadhel, followed by an engaging panel discussion titled Interfaith Dialogue, hosted on Bab Al Bahrain’s balcony and led by Yousif Salahuddin.
During the session, Mr Salahuddin shared his personal memories of religious harmony in Bahrain, reflecting on Manama as a model of a diverse and unified society.
The day concluded with a captivating performance of traditional folklore by Ismaeel Dawas Band, reviving some of Bahrain’s most cherished musical traditions.
“From the Post is our annual initiative to celebrate Manama, a symbol of coexistence, diversity and cultural richness,” said Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (Baca) president Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa on the occasion.
“This year, we delve into Manama’s history and heritage, exploring what has made it an economic, social and cultural hub over the decades.”
Aiming to strengthen the public’s connection with Manama’s rich cultural heritage, each week of the ‘From the Post’ programme carries a theme that shapes its activities, ranging from guided tours and photography sessions to artistic experiences and panel discussions.
In the following weeks, the cultural programme will be held under the themes, ‘Administration of Manama’, ‘Commerce of Manama’ and ‘Architecture of Manama’.
This year, the Post Office balcony will also host Arena Café, welcoming visitors throughout the festival.
The café will be open from Sunday to Wednesday between 9am and 6pm, and from Thursday to Saturday between 9am and 9pm.
